![]() | Alena Dvorakova – Viktor Fischer, An Hour of War /a picture project in progress/ As a counterpart to our Missions and Water projects dealing with serious human and environmental issues, we decided to capture moments of “real war” in a surprising context of developed European countries. Conflict represents the elementary driving force of development of the society and its institutions. This is why our pictures are taken in a way that visually reminds us of apocalyptic war photography, which we unfortunately got used to seeing on the pages of world media and which we relate to a space that is “somewhere else”. Our photographs, at first sight full of aggression and anxiety of something still subconsciously expected, with a closer look turn into a harmless game /even though with a questionable use of food/ based on historical and territorial aspects; a game that would probably be hard to imagine in such an extent anywhere else in the world and that would be materially and technically impossible. |
